We are a few weeks away from the start of another action-packed year at East Brook Elementary School! There are several other initiatives planned for the 2017-18 school year.
Beginning in September, Park Ridge will launch a brand new website. This may host my weekly newsletter, The East Brook Blast.
Our library will undergo a minor makeover and the special area class will focus more on collaboration and teamwork through STEAM/Makerspace activities. Students will still have time to check out books each week with the assistance of Mrs. Rubenstein!
We will be launching K-6 curriculum maps for all subjects and special areas. As a parent, you will have a clear vision of what topics your child will be learning throughout the school year.
Our 6th grade students will participate in a 45 day coding/digital citizenship course led by a new faculty member, Mr. Buscareno
And finally, as you may have read in Dr. Gamper’s newsletter, all East Brook instructional spaces will be air conditioned!!
East Brook’s theme this year involves developing a healthy mindset. Here are some of the initiatives and ideas we have planned for the 2017-18 school year.
¨ School-wide “Brain Breaks” using Pebble Go
¨ Healthy lunch options from Nicholas Markets
¨ Hiking Field Trips to Ramapo Reservation
¨ Assembly Programs to support nutrition
¨ Implementation of a full vegetable garden
¨ Walk to School Days w/ morning exercise
¨ Elimination of unnecessary sugary treats for birthdays.
¨ Extra Recess & Exercise Time!
